About AGS

Chapter President's Letter

As we begin the new academic year, I'd like to take a moment to communicate important updates and future plans for our fraternity. The members of Alpha Gamma Sigma consistently rise to meet diverse challenges while fostering personal growth and camaraderie. They forge enduring bonds and leave a positive mark on our campus community. Allow me to outline some noteworthy developments and forthcoming initiatives for our fraternity.

The previous rush chairmen did a great job in recruiting our new men. We welcomed a pledge class of 31 new members who collectively achieved an impressive 3.51 GPA during the fall semester. This is much higher than the all male average, which just goes to show how our chapter builds great men. When seeking new members, our focus is on recruiting individuals who reflect our values, exhibit leadership potential, and show a sincere dedication to contributing positively to both the campus and the wider community; our new members have checked all of these boxes and we are thrilled to see what they will do in the future.

This semester our chapter plans to add the annual philanthropy of a die tournament. All proceeds of this philanthropy will go toward funding the research of multiple sclerosis. We are very excited to see how this philanthropy fairs, and hope it brings awareness to a worthwhile cause while building. As we seek to get our name out there on campus, many of the leaders in our house come to mind. Within our chapter there are many members who are not only involved in the house, but also on campus. Our chapter has many members in the NHRI mentorship program, which adds to our longstanding relationship with the organization. Our chapter also has three members on the executive board of the Young Nebraska Cattlemen’s club. This organization allows our members to deepen their agricultural roots and grow leadership skills simultaneously.

Academically, our chapter ranks seventh among fraternities. This is the same rank that we achieved last year; however, our overall grade point average dropped by a small amount. Nevertheless the members of Alpha Gamma Sigma are unrelenting in our goal to raise our GPA. This semester our goal is to be placed in the top-five average GPA among fraternities.

During the remainder of my time as president, I want to express my gratitude in advance to everyone for their support and dedication in aiding this fraternity’s success. Together, we will ensure this year becomes a memorable one for our fraternity. Should you have any inquiries, please feel free to reach out to me or any member of the executive board without hesitation.

Fraternally,

Grounded In

  • Study groups, intramural teams, and a variety of club involvements are all areas in which we work cohesively to achieve greater heights as a brotherhood.

  • The fraternity provides brothers not in blood, but in bond; countless genuine friendships, which grow into life-long relationships and opportunities.

  • By providing community and accountability, we help our members look after their mental, physical, and spiritual health through college’s many challenges.

  • We believe fairness throughout life is essential to success, which is why we consider this principle to be the pillar of all success.

  • Our Leadership Development Program, offices, committees, and campus involvements help prepare our members to adapt and prosper through life’s challenges.

  • The fraternity provides structure and guidance to young men, teaching them personal responsibility and respect for others.

  • In a society increasingly drawn toward short-term gratification, we teach true integrity through proper conduct and values.

  • Our members invest their resources (time, money, advice, and companionship) into this organization knowing that their efforts contribute to something greater than any individual.

  • We provide a professional environment and a multitude of resources and incentives to produce well-educated and highly-skilled individuals.

  • As college serves as a transition from childhood to adulthood, this fraternity teaches young men the skills and characteristics needed to be self-sufficient.

  • We exercise etiquette, courtesy, and respect in our relationships and help students network with others, for friendships lay the foundation for professional connections.

  • Classes, sports, and activities all provide practice in both impartiality and superiority, which are necessary in the competitive nature of life.

  • Temperate living, pertaining to many aspects of life, allows us to enjoy wholesome lives while maintaining success and respect amongst our associates.
