Alumni Spotlight: Brody Benson

Meet one of our alumni members, Brody Benson!

Meet one of our AGS Gamma Chapter alumni members, Brody Benson

What do you currently do for work?

I own and run SandBox Media as well as manage our family's ranch and real estate portfolio.

Why did you choose AGS?

I really just chose AGS because they were one of the first to reach out to me when I decided to transfer to UNL, but when I joined AGS I knew I picked the right one. Being a part of AGS means truly so much to me. I was never involved on campus at all until I joined AGS. Once I joined I was then able to be involved in many different capacities on campus.

They taught me what it means to serve outside of those four walls of the fraternity. Most importantly, I was able to hear the true gospel of Jesus Christ from one of my brothers, Jordan Popp, bringing me to a college ministry called The Salt Company. For that, I am ever thankful for God leading me to AGS.

Did you have any officer positions during your time?

I was the alumni relations chair and the chaplain.

What were some of the highlights of your time in AGS?

One of my favorite highlights was morning bible study followed by AGS Coffee Coalition where a bunch of guys would just get together and chop it up with some coffee.

What impacts did being in the fraternity have on your personal and professional development?

The fraternity taught me what it means to mix life and not balance it. You always are told to have a good work life balance but, in all realness, if you love what you do you want to mix it.

What was your favorite fraternity event and why?

I was a sucker for trash clean up, loved being able to make tomorrow greener.

Reflecting back, how did the fraternity mold you into the man you are today?

I am a better man because of the fraternity. You meet a lot of different characters when you join a fraternity but if it is the right group of guys then most of them will spur you on to become a better man. Being a better man is only possible when you are challenged by other individuals.

What advice would you give to current fraternity members?

The advice that I would give to current fraternity members is two things: accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus Christ offers only through grace by faith and don't let yourself ever be a stranger in any room you are in.
