Now more than ever, Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity is committed to the health, safety, and well-being of its resident active members. We promise to provide a productive, safe, and healthy academic learning and living environment for our members. Below is a summary of our commitment to the requirements of approved residential housing, food safety, cleanliness, and security.

Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life

The University of Nebraska has an on-campus residency policy that requires first-year students to reside in University-owned residence halls or other University-approved living units, which may include privately-owned and operated fraternities and sororities, provided they meet the annual requirements necessary to be granted University-approved housing status. Through this annual approval process, fraternities and sororities must complete reports and provide the documentation as follows:

  • Employ a live-in advisor or house director.
  • Maintain appropriate property and liability insurance.
  • Pass health, safety, and fire inspections for the facility.
  • Follow University alcohol and other policies.
  • Provide contact information for student leaders and alumni responsible for the overall maintenance and management of the individual chapter.

In developing the documents, specific attention was given to the importance of academic success for undergraduate chapter members, the need for appropriate conduct by the individual members and their chapters, the importance of positive programming within each chapter, and the critical role that alumni play in providing continuity and support. Throughout the documents, it is stressed that the standards of each chapter must be totally supportive of the roles, regulations, and policies of the University.

We believe that this annual written agreement has served our University well, complementing the goals of national organizations as well as providing additional support for chapter officers to effectively lead their members. The Greek-letter organizations that are the most successful are those chapters in which members hold each other accountable. We believe that the recognition agreement has helped to maintain and improve the mutually supportive relationship the University and the Greek Community have enjoyed for so long.

Food and Safety Policies and Procedures

The ServSafe Food Safety Training program leads the way in providing current and comprehensive educational materials to the restaurant industry. More than 4 million foodservice professionals have been certified through the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Exam, which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Conference for Food Protection (CFP).

Building Security

The Chapter House is a fully secured, key code access facility that is monitored and controlled 24/7. As a part of approved University of Nebraska-Lincoln residence housing, the residents are protected and adhere to the policies and procedures required by that designation.

Building Professional Cleaning Service

In addition to a rigorous daily and weekly cleaning program executed by the active chapter, the entire building and individual rooms are professionally cleaned monthly to ensure the highest standards of healthy living and personal safety.  

All food products, cleaning processes, and products adhere to the strict HAACP procedures and policies to ensure food and cleaning products are used properly at all times.

What is HAACP?
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement, and handling, to manufacturing, distribution, and consumption of the finished product.

  • Our Leadership Development Program, offices, committees, and campus involvements help prepare our members to adapt and prosper through life’s challenges.

  • The fraternity provides structure and guidance to young men, teaching them personal responsibility and respect for others.

  • In a society increasingly drawn toward short-term gratification, we teach true integrity through proper conduct and values.

  • Our members invest their resources (time, money, advice, and companionship) into this organization knowing that their efforts contribute to something greater than any individual.

  • We provide a professional environment and a multitude of resources and incentives to produce well-educated and highly-skilled individuals.

  • As college serves as a transition from childhood to adulthood, this fraternity teaches young men the skills and characteristics needed to be self-sufficient.

  • We exercise etiquette, courtesy, and respect in our relationships and help students network with others, for friendships lay the foundation for professional connections.

  • Classes, sports, and activities all provide practice in both impartiality and superiority, which are necessary in the competitive nature of life.

  • Temperate living, pertaining to many aspects of life, allows us to enjoy wholesome lives while maintaining success and respect amongst our associates.
